Hello friend-o’s
As many of you know I, once again, have discontinued my social media use. Not to cut off any conversations, but actually because I was mindlessly consuming and reacting to a degree that I didn’t feel comfortable with anymore. It’s probably not the end of social media & me - but for now I’m restarting this funny little newsletter to keep in touch with y’all.
As always, I love your responses, interactions, messages, and feedback. So always know you can and should reach out when you have the impulse.
Now on to the updates!
I competed in my first Powerlifting meet this last weekend! When I started lifting, just 3 years ago, I never thought I would actually find my way onto a competition platform. In my mind it was reserved for serious lifters only. But the more people I met through the community at LBC, the more I realized that this really is for everyone and anyone.
After a few years of being stuck inside from the pandemic, I had amassed some serious lifting gains that I was proud of - and I learned a new form of discipline in my training that I had never had before. I wanted to test these new gains and my discipline, and a powerlifting meet sounded like the perfect idea.
Well, the meet was a HUGE success and not only did I make almost all my lifts, but I set 3 lifetime PRs!!!!
1,041 lb total (that’s squat + bench + deadlift)
403 lb squat
418 lb deadlift
Like WOW! My quads are even bigger than I thought :D
The meet itself was very fun and supportive, but I gotta say that it also really showed me how much people care about me. There were so many people there taking care of me, hyping me up, and making me just gush with love. It was a memory I will hold onto for my whole life.
Check out some of the photos below!
But also, I’d love to hear from you. What’s your big next goal? What are you planning that will test you? Where are you looking for your inspiration?
