Megan and I have been trying to have a night out since Lucy was born in 2020. We’ve planned nights out or overnight retreats almost a dozen times — but every time something happened that prevented our plans, from inconvenient to catastrophic. Remember that time Texas froze for a week and the infrastructure shut down? Yea, we had a hotel staycation planned. But, the point isn’t how we haven’t had a date, it’s that we finally DID have a date.
We were lucky enough to be invited to our friends wedding this last Saturday, congrats Corey & Megan! And there was other people! And food! And dancing!!! Lots of dancing! I got to dress up for the first time in over 2 years. Although, only one of my suits still fits my chest, and even that was a TIGHT squeeze.
It was just an incredible pleasure to get dressed up, have some drinks, chat with friends, and cut the rug a bit. There’s so many things I’ve missed during COVID, to the point that I even forget that I miss them. I wish it were less complicated and more simple to just go dancing. Nonetheless, I’m thankful for this night.
Also, can we all just look at Megan’s beautiful smile and melt into this moment ❤️
Training & shit
For those who loosely follow my training, I’ve now pivoted to Strongman training. Getting a 1,000lb total in powerlifting was incredible, but I don’t enjoy powerlifting very much — I actually find it pretty boring. Strongman, on the other hand, provides the variety and technical challenge that really excites me. Training to lift 400lbs is cool, but figuring out how to lift a 400lb rock is way more fun!
I’m just getting started and had a fun session with the Circus dumbbell and the training atlas stones at Liberation Barbell Club this weekend.
Lucy Update
She’s cute AF.
